Kyoto: Arashiyama & More

Arashiyama is a neighborhood in Western Kyoto that had once been an imperial and aristocratic retreat from central Kyoto when it was the capital. The old palaces were then turned into numerous temples and monasteries, which remain today. The Arashiyama Bamboo grove is world famous and it reminded me of the "Bamboo Temple" at Hokokuji Temple in Kamakura that I visited over a quarter century ago.
